We are pleased to announce that we are taking entries for the third annual Naresh Photographic competition.
The theme of this year’s competition is “What Sydney Means to Me”. The following prizes will be awarded:
We’ve changed the judging process this year. The winners will be decided by popular vote of the staff attending the ICU Melbourne Cup Lunch on Tuesday November 1st 2011 – voting will close at 1pm. Prints of the submitted images will be displayed in the ICU for judging.
The competition is open to any employee of Royal North Shore or North Shore Private Hospitals. Immediate family members or members of the Ramakrishnan family are also encouraged to participate. Entries are limited to a maximum of 2 (two) photographs per person.
Entry to the competition is free! Please submit an A4 print and digital copy of your entry to Mina in the ICU office. Digital images can be sent to directly to nareshphotographicaward@gmail.com. There is a form to complete when you submit your entry. It will ask for the following information:
Each submitted photograph must be an original photograph taken by the competition entrant. By entering the competition, the entrant acknowledges and warrants that the submitted photograph is an original work created solely by the entrant, and that the photograph does not infringe any copyrights, trademarks, rights to privacy/publicity or intellectual property rights of any person or entity.
If the photograph includes other people, in some circumstances you may be required, to provide a signed written release from all persons who appear in the photograph. The following link provides a guide to the circumstances under which such permission would be required (see Link to The Arts Law Centre of Australia).
Prize winners will be announced on Melbourne Cup Day (a day close to Naresh’s heart) on Tuesday November 1st 2011. The winning entry each year will be displayed in the ICU.
We assume that, by entering the competition, you give approval for us to display the photograph on the RNS ICU Intranet and Internet sites and for the images to be redistributed under the terms of the following Creative Commons License, which allows the images to be redistributed for non-commercial use, unaltered with appropriate acknowledgement of the copyright owner of the image (see Link CreativeCommons.org). Variations of this license are commonly used on the Wikipedia site. It is advisable to place this copyright information in the metadata of the submitted digital images.
All photographs should accurately reflect the subject matter and the scene as it appeared. Photos that have been digitally altered beyond standard optimisation won’t be accepted.
The closing date for submission of photographs is Friday October 28th 2011.
